If you own an Oculus/Meta Quest headset, you can experience Spaces in VR even better. We offer a free Oculus/Meta App for this purpose.
(Here you can find instructions on how to install the rooom app on the Oculus/Meta Quest.)
Basic controls
In the Oculus/Meta app, you can use the controls of your headset for navigation. Find out exactly how this works here.
The following list shows all possible actions:
Look around |
Turn your head to look around. In addition, you can change the viewing direction with the right joystick. Depending on the setting, the viewing direction is changed in steps (SnapTurn) or continuously (Continuous). |
Move |
Setting: Continuous Use the left joystick to move around the room. This setting is closest to the feeling of walking, but can cause motion sickness (see Settings to prevent motion sickness). Setting: Teleport If you have the Teleport setting active, you can select a point on the ground with your controllers and teleport there by pressing the trigger. If available, you can also use the navigation points on the ground. |
Interact with objects |
When you point a controller at an object, the right controller tells you whether you can perform an action and which key you need to press to do so. (Usually this is the right trigger). This way you can select objects and open e.g. 3D Product Viewer, videos or whiteboards. |
Move objects |
Certain objects (such as sticky notes) can be moved. Point a controller at the object and hold down the Grip button on the side of the controller. Release the Grip button when you no longer want to move the object. |
Jump | A button (right controller) |
Open/close main menu |
B button (right controller) Alternatively: Menu button (left controller) |
Close rooom App | Oculus button (right controller) |
Activate/deactivate third-person mode | Y button (left controller) |
Mute/enable background noise |
Open the shortcut menu by holding the left controller sideways (with the back of your hand facing forward). Now select the first menu point with the right controller and press the trigger on the right controller. |
Back to the home lobby |
Open the shortcut menu by holding the left controller sideways (with the back of your hand facing forward). Now select the third menu point with the right controller and press the trigger on the right controller. |
Enable/disable microphone mute |
Open the shortcut menu by holding the left controller sideways (with the back of your hand facing forward). Now select the fourth menu point with the right controller and press the trigger on the right controller. |
Take screenshot for Sticky Notes | Click on the right joystick to take a screenshot and open the screenshot overview. |

Main menu
In the main menu you can select Spaces, customize your avatar and make settings.
Open Spaces
Via the menu item Spaces you can open different virtual rooms. You can choose from
- public Spaces
- special featured Spaces
- your User-Spaces (Attention: only VR optimized Spaces are displayed here)
- and Spaces called up via the associated PIN
To call up a Space via its PIN, simply enter the PIN under Enter PIN.
In order for your Spaces to be accessible in the Oculus/Meta app, they need to be optimized for the VR experience. If you are interested in this option, please contact our sales team!
Under User you can log in with your rooom account so that your own Spaces are displayed.
Customize avatar and display name
On the right side you can customize your display name and avatar.
Settings
You can find the settings in the main menu under Settings.
In the settings you can adjust your audio, control and multiplayer settings.
Audio settings
Under Audio you can adjust the volume of music, other voice chat participants and your microphone.
Control settings
Movement settings
Under Movement you can choose between continuous running or teleporting, change the type of rotation and adjust the running speed. (See Basic Controls)
Motion Sickness settings
Under Motion Sickness you can make settings that prevent motion sickness from occurring.
Motion sickness (also called VR sickness) can occur when the brain perceives a sensory contradiction. For example, when the eyes perceive a movement via the VR goggles, but our vestibular organ does not experience a matching sensory perception.
By activating Show Darkening and adjusting Darkening Strength, the field of view is briefly restricted or partially darkened when moving. In this way, the perception of the movement animation is reduced.
Motion sickness can also be prevented by deactivating the third-person mode or the jumping function.
Multiplayer
Under Multiplayer, you can disable or enable multiplayer mode. When multiplayer mode is disabled, you cannot see or hear other user avatars in the Spaces and others cannot see or hear your avatar.
