With the Space Editor, you can place people in your space via photos (2D avatar). To do this, add a canvas object and upload an image of the person with a transparent background.
Create and Isolate the Photo: Making Your Photo the Perfect 2D Avatar
To create a 2D avatar, you need a full-body photo of the person. Ensure the following requirements are met for optimal avatar display:
- The person should be visible from head to toe.
- The photo should be taken against a neutral background (not a green screen).
- The floor and shoes should be distinguishable in color for clear separation.
- Ensure the person is well lit.
- Use a low ISO setting to avoid image noise.
- Crop the photo closely around the person; there should be no additional border.
- The image resolution should be at least 72 dpi, with a minimum size of 500 pixels wide and 1,000 pixels high.
To insert the photo as a 2D avatar in the space, the person must be cut out to appear without a background.
Remove.bg is a simple online service where you can upload the image and automatically remove the background. Perfect for quick results.
Please save the isolated image in PNG format to ensure a transparent background.
Add Canvas Object to the Space and Upload Image
To place your 2D avatar in the space, first add a canvas object that will serve as the display area for the avatar image. Follow these steps:
- Open the Space Editor and navigate to the desired area within the space where you wish to place the 2D avatar.
- Click the -button at the bottom right to open the Object Library.
- Search for Canvas and select the basic canvas object from the object library.
- Place the canvas object in the desired location in the space.
- Upload the cut out avatar image in the object menu on the right under Displays.
Adjust Orientation and Size
After adding the photo to the plane, you can further adjust the avatar in the space to integrate it optimally into the environment:
- Select the 2D avatar and, if necessary, move it to the appropriate spot in the room.
- In the object settings, enable the option "Look at camera". This ensures the 2D avatar automatically faces the camera, regardless of the viewing angle in the space.
- Ensure the avatar size fits the environment and is well integrated into the overall scene. Adjust the scaling in the object menu if necessary.
